This morning's light rain led us to take an Uber to Schönbrunn Palace. The tour was fantastic, featuring an animated start (from the perspective of the palace)and a comprehensive tour. Very interesting. A winter stroll through the gardens was peaceful, and then we caught the train back home.

Today marks our first real day of wandering around Vienna. The Christmas season is bringing in the crowds and tomorrow's national holiday for the Immaculate Conception adds to the bustle, showcasing the city's deep Catholic heritage.

Melk Abbey is a must-visit, but during Christmas, it's pure magic! With fewer crowds, we got to experience an intimate mass practice led by a 24-year-old monk and accompanied by the majestic organ. There are currently 22 monks the eldest being 91.
