i am the home of sexual. gay communist. if god didn't want us to smoke cigarettes she wouldn't have founded marlboro with her own two hands in 1924
....I don't actually know what sect of Christianity my grandparents subscribe to but when we visit family on my mom's side we all hold hands and sing Praise God, From Whom All Blessings Flow before meals

ohhh, yeah, okay. reading through the comments it sounds like Catholic grace is much more of a Ritual TM than (at least) Methodist grace was. Generally speaking someone would just say some prayer or another that roughly boiled down to "thank God for this food and those I'm having it with, amen"

.......I was raised Methodist and I kind of always assumed that all Christians said grace before meals pretty much? was I wrong about that?

my most reasonable assumption is that it's flagging my posts more for using mobile browser Twitter which is potentially reasonable because mobile web (undocumented) apis are probably where a lot of those bot posts originate but I'll fuckin skewer myself before I install the twitter app

...honestly? winx club probably?

pretty sure secretly tuning in to watch it when my parents weren't keeping an eye on me actually awakened the nascent desire to feel pretty in me as a small child

I mean if it wasn't that it would've been something else, but that's rather the joke, isn't it

does it suck? yes. but just be real and acknowledge the context in which it was made, something I'm sure Hwang Dong-hyuk had to acknowledge and compromise with constantly along the way.

Squid Game is a show created by Hwang Dong-hyuk to show the oppressiveness of a hypercapitalist and fascist society. Squid Game is owned by Netflix. Who do you think decided to cast a cis guy as a trans woman? Even if it was him what competing pressures was he under to tell the story. Be serious.

this makes me think of why I enjoy lazy languages so much. they're counterintuitive for most people and have weird edge cases, but they can often make the most obvious and elegant solution (ex. free monads) actually useful in the real world, albeit perhaps still not the *best* solution

they've absolutely made mistakes and I think in this modern world some level of fascistic tendency manages to creep in at every level but it's simply unignorable if you actually listen that they're trying (and succeeding) when much of the world isn't

this is something I have said for years. I have my issues with modern-day China for certain, but something you just cannot argue with is that the government reinvests its prosperity into the prosperity of the people of China at almost every step

ohhh my god I just saw another one
December 25, 2024 at 8:15 PM
oh, of course! that was silly of me

very fair though

honestly the ash (æ) is probably also wrong? like historically (the way you probably intended it?) it's the a in happy (...or ash), it's only been recently that it's considered a typographic variant actually pronounced like 'ae' would be
