Haven't done a wip wed in AGES but I have some #haikaveh simmering in a pot.... (I promise I'm trying to cook, I'm just very slow)

He's always had a pleasant voice, but there's something about the way he speaks now, low and almost groggy as he emerges from the fugue state of productivity, that makes Alhaitham… warm. Like sleeping in on a Saturday morning, all lazy limbs and self-satisfaction. "It's 5 o'clock." Kaveh frowns and checks his watch, but makes no move to leave. "I still have a few more practice exams to grade. Need to get them back to the students ASAP so they have time to prepare for the final." Alhaitham has about a half dozen rebuttals in mind. Lectures about overworking and ungrateful students and burnout. But Kaveh is rubbing his eyes, and Alhaitham is struck anew with warmth that he does not have the time to parse. So instead he says, "If you save me a seat tomorrow, I'll bring coffee." Kaveh's brows shoot up in surprise. But then a smile curls on his lips, taking over his mien with the slow, steady confidence of a sunrise. "The good stuff, right? I'm sick of cafeteria coffee." Alhaitham's responding smile is only natural— reflected sunlight and all that. "Of course."
