His leadership is his integrity. If he loses that, I agree, he's on his own.

But I would rather work for someone who called their challenges by the book than a peacock who 'led' by spotting the next bandwagon to jump on.

We've all had enough of stupid, spineless peacocks.

No, 'go with your gut' is absolutely not the job. Terrifying that anyone would think so. The job is rigour and integrity. 'Your gut' is a last resort.

If you are a government with a majority of over 100 and you are worrying about being able to get a vote through parliament, that should really be a wake-up call as to whether the thing you are doing is a good idea or not.
