Hahah it does look comical! But I mean... we don't wanna risk it moving mid sequencing!. These are the conditions most of the time.

(It was relatively tame at the time I took this video)

They claim there are 2M bats here. They are the pollinators of the Mango plantations in southern Mandanao!

As far as I know, Aves is phylogenetically defined as "the group containing the common ancestor of Archeopteryx and all modern birds". So Archeopteryx is, by definition, Aves. And so because this is the type of archeopteryx, it defines aves.

Obviously, sone taxonomids gonna taxonomize and disagree.

I appologize kind yet slightly annoying sir;

My understanding of the english language was that the word bird referred to "aves" and not "passeriformes".

The path ahead is clear:

1-Measure eDNA profiles instead of treating eDNA as one pool;

2-Identify the actual mechanisms behind decay;

3- Map which microbes and enzymes drive loss across systems

These three steps will unlock the predictive power we need. 🔬🧬🌊

Transport is not one-size-fits-all, because water moves differently across systems!

Lakes show short, depth-structured signals.
Rivers vary with discharge and particle size.
Coastal and open ocean waters can carry eDNA fa, yet still reflect local sources. 🌊📍
