Hoeg and others keep referring to what other nations are doing. But those have almost 100% maternal testing AND universal healthcare. We have closer to 85% testing and I don't need to say about our problematic healthcare issues.

Yes - I don’t think the “reduction of disease and complications” is well-appreciated by some people. Like sure my aunt survived polio but she had health issues and required physical therapy and a cane during much of her adult life (and was on disability, etc)

Mortality from all causes went down significantly in the first half of the 1900s. Hygiene, nutrition, & general medical advancements contributed far more to this than vaccines. No one disputes that. But vaccines still decreased deaths even further & greatly reduced all kinds of disease complications
