when I was a teen, I got into some of his songs when they came on the radio. I feel like as we all came out of the nu metal/butt rock of the late 90s and early 2000s, I suddenly noticed how annoying his music was.

I feel this so much. that said, as an adult, just buying cheapsteam rereleases/emulating the best PSX games at my convenience had been a pretty good and chill experience
