Weird example because if someone tried several of the kinds of foods I make, knowing I make multiple kinds of foods, and then tried to compliment me by saying “you make good food,” I wouldn’t get up in arms about the generalization of the word food. That’s what I’m commenting on here.

Hard disagree. I literally see people use the phrase “content creation” in normal ways all the time (like in this thread you’ll see my friend proudly talking about how they are one!) and it’s not LOST just people some bad people used it and some people complained about it.

Yeah, and my point is that it’s very clear that the word still has use in other contexts, people use it colloquially in neutral and complimentary ways all the time, and acting like the word has already been lost to morally negative connotations isn’t a representation of reality.

Exactly! There are a LOT of good, authentic people like you too and when they see people complaining about this word it must be so confusing. It’s really obvious to me that the word refers to a model of output and it’s USEFUL for this!

I’m sorry but the idea that the word “content” can be correlated to ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR is fucking absurd. All of these entities use the word for its functional meaning, the same way Good and Authentic artists use it, it doesn’t change the meaning of the word.

You don’t have to call your own art content, but if someone calls their own art content it doesn’t make them a sell-out, and if someone calls your art “peak __ content” they’re saying it’s good. Finding an insult there is a willful misinterpretation of others intentions. Pull that stick out of there

I don’t know where the “evil! Clinical! Algorithm!” assessment of this word came from but actually: lots of people are multimedia artists, and some art doesn’t neatly fit into the visual implications of the word “art”. You’ll be less irritable if you realize it’s not that deep.
