What exactly do people want Schumer to do? Yell more? He's completely powerless. Being branded the shutdown party would accomplish zero and tarnish the Dems. Schumer wisely understood this.

Shut down is not the way. Don't be a hypocrite. Can't say ur in favor of govt doing important stuff and at same time let it shut down. Likelihood of accomplishing anything meaningful and lasting via shutdown is zero. Versus wearing the stench of the shutdown = certainty. Keep our powder dry.
