Eye-opening graph. The biggest wildfire incidents in the UK don't occur when it's hottest, in high summer: they take place in April - *when landowners set fire to their grouse moors & lose control of burns.*

Time to ban moorland burning.

A 450-yo oak is felled without permission by a Toby Carvery (don’t eat there), who falsely claimed it was "dead".
A tree alive when The Gunpowder Plot was hatched, which supports a web of 2000+ species, is in pieces.
Legal protection for heritage trees needed.

Do you, (or your employer or e.g. any voluntary groups you're in) bank with HSBC?
Did you know it's really easy to switch your current account from a High Street Bank like HSBC or Barclays to a more ethical alternative, e.g. many Building Societies?

Laid up ill, I decided to re-read one of my favourite books, The Wild Places by @robgmacfarlane.bsky.social So brilliant and beautiful. This is one of my favourite passages - about limestone and walking. I also love the delicate graphic that separates the sections - a track, or perhaps flight 🌿🎶🙏🐾
