Great article with lots of perspectives from scientists who are scared to speak out — and other scientists who are scared of what will happen if they don't. Trump & Musk & Kennedy are devastating U.S. research and setting progress back decades

Listen to Gil Duran track the history and explain the "philosophy" behind what Elon Musk is doing and why.

To effectively RESIST people need to be aware of and understand it.

A must listen.

If the Democratic Party had any ability to control the narrative, this budget fight would be a win no matter how they played it. But they don’t. And so it’s lose-lose for them. Again.

Right-wing populism is leveraging online platforms' participatory nature. A counter-movement must amplify its constituents' values, with a commitment to truth.

A succinct argument about how the Trump administration's "anti-DEI" guidance are an infringement on the free speech rights of educators, misunderstand the law, and ultimately undermine education: theconversation.com/anti-dei-gui...
Anti-DEI guidance from Trump administration misinterprets the law and guts educators’ free speech rights
A letter from the Trump administration warns educational institutions that they’ll lose federal funding if they don’t abandon so-called DEI programs. That could change education in the US.

They’re so used to creating pseudo-events to provide more material for the distorted frames of their bullshit machine. They are not used to these dynamics being turned against them. The left needs to seize the moment, organize its own events, and start generating content for its own viral messaging.
House Republican leadership has advised caucus members to avoid in-person town halls, fearing that voter backlash may become viral if circulated online.

An exceptional talk by Kate Starbird at UW. She has worked on disinformation in social media for many years, and she fits this talk well into current events. I have never attended an academic talk before where the audience erupted into a spontaneous ovation at the end. Well worth the watch.

With both RFK Jr and Gabbard confirmed, two people who rose to prominence spreading conspiracy theories about public health and national intelligence will now run the U.S. government agencies in charge of those areas. For someone studying these conspiracy theories for a decade... this is nauseating.
