This is not really true, and importantly so. Trump has sent federalized NG units to Oregon and Illinois. They're not TX troops anymore; they're indistinguishable from federal troops.

Yeah my thought too. There aren't pots like that sitting around with no use (contrary to what some MAGA's think). They're either robbing Peter to pay Paul, or illegally redirecting funds appropriated for a different purpose, like crop supports or conservation programs.

No he’s been planning for this moment all year. He knew the budget and the short term FY 25 bills in the Spring were not where to fight. The full year Approps bill, with Trump’s favorability tanking in the fall, is. He played this just right.

He can’t just choose where that money goes. It’s the government’s money and must be appropriated, or else indeed it just goes to reducing the deficit.

It’s not on McGrath. She can do whatever she wants and seems like she would make a good senator. It’s on us to not send her $100m. We just threw that money away. Without Mitch, though, I suspect she will generate only a tiny fraction of that.

A year's extension is all an Approps bill can do (the whole bill sunsets no later than next September 30). What he's saying is he wants ACA credits to become mandatory spending (not subject to annual Approps). Which btw is a great demand. Would be hugely impactful if they could pull it off.

People are gonna hate the Insurrection Act. Sections 252 and 253 suspend Posse Comitatus and allow Trump to send in troops whenever the operations of federal officers (i.e. ICE) are being hindered in any way. It is what was invoked in the school desegregation battle in the 60's.

No, Black people of all genders and ages performed slightly less well in 2024 than 2020. Not decisively in any one state like Latinos may have been, but yes, it was a problem and Black voters did not show up like they have been in previous elections.

Read my post again. I said turnout was down significantly (which it was). Not Dem share. Two very different things. Man people are defensive about the stories they tell themselves about what happened in 2024. The truth is voters of color were one of the biggest problem areas for Harris.
