manga, rabbits, and whatever else i feel like
Another hip-hop group I found myself deeply in love with is Death Grips.

The raw aggression, dark lyrics, variety of music and incredible performances keep me more engaged than I could've ever imagined. Exmilitary is another album i think is perfect, and Powers That B is another phenomenal album.

Eugh, anyways, onto other Genres.

maybe surprisingly, but another genre i do really enjoy is Hip-hop, with my favourite rapper being Kendrick (maybe that's less surprising)

TPAB and Good Kid Maad City are both masterpieces of music and storytelling, and I consider TPAB to be perfect.

OK ONLY WHEN I LOOKED FOR THESE COVERS DID I FIND OUT ABOUT THE DRUMMER BEING A PIECE OF SHIT

MY FEELINGS DONT CHANGE ABOUT THEIR MUSIC BUT I DON'T LIKE THAT GUY

To finish off the 5 prog bands i wanted to include, I The Mighty is my last pick. I found them a long time ago now, and have been avidly listening to their music. It's closer to screamo, but I love their stories nonetheless.

Albums: Where the Mind Wants to Go, Connector

Going a bit more towards rock now, King Shelter is one I've more recently come to love a LOT. Their album Sellout is legitimately one of my few perfect albums, and their other projects are similarly very very solid.

Albums: Sellout, Damascus, Shame

If you can't tell I love the progressive and cabaret music from those artists. Another in the same subgenres that I really like is Dirt Poor Robins.

While I personally disagree with their politics, it's not overt in their music, and I love their creativity.

Albums: Raven Locks, Dead Horse Alaska

In a similar vein to TDH, another band i've come to love dearly is Closure in Moscow

Another progressive band, their soundscapes and stories have enraptured me, and I love the intensity in some of their music.

Favourite Albums: Pink Lemonade, Soft Hell

I'll start with my favourite artist of all time, one who's very much shaped me into who I am today: The Dear Hunter

Fronted by Casey Crescenzo, its a progressive rock band that has shaped my musical tastes more than anything else i've ever listened to.

Favourite albums: Act 1,2,4,5 and Antimai.

That's that for manga, a small number that I personally adore. Most are Shueisha because that's mostly what i've read, but I'm trying to expand my repetoire slowly but surely. This also isn't mentioning some of the others i adore, like Black Clover, Akane Banashi, Dandadan, and so on.

Next, Albums!

Psych House (Shueisha, 2024-now)

Probably my favourite recent manga? It's my pfp for god's sake. An incredibly cute slice of life manga, with amazing characters and a very innocent and light plot. It's a series that made me very happy and I desperately hope it lives a while longer.

Obokoi Majo wa Majiwaritai! (Shonen Gaho, 2020-now)

Don't let the english name put you off, it's an incredibly cute slice of life/romance manga with a really pleasingly innocent setting and a really really great vibe. The characters are a bit generic, but it doesn't harm this series at all. Love it

Soul Eater (Square Enix, 2004-2013)

Exceptional characters, a great premise and a dark artstyle, even if the plot does meander and hurt later on, I love both the anime and the manga as the anime was my first. Definitely a mainstay in my brain, I love it, even if it's heavily flawed.

Smoking Behind The Supermarket With You (Square Enix, 2022-now)

I'm 23, almost 24, and i've definitely preferred manga with older characters as a general rule. Smoking Behind is my favourite Romance manga, and has brought me to tears too many times. It's a comfort read for certain.

Kaguya-Sama: Love is War (Shueisha, 2015-2022)

Probably the funniest series i've ever read. While i'm usually a battlehead when it comes to manga, Kaguya-sama definitely ignited an interest in romance manga that i'm glad I now have. Phenomenal characters and it's the funniest thing i've ever read.

Sakamoto Days (Shueisha, 2020-now)

I said YuYu Hakusho was an oldie of battle manga: here's a new gen battle manga that blows almost every other out of the water. An incredible plot with engaging characters, brutal action and creativity unlike anything i've ever read. Can't wait for the anime.

Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead (Shogakukan, 2018-now)

A ridiculous set of characters make a otherwise drab zombie apocalypse shine all the brighter. I love the characters and their dynamics, their infinite optimism and the progression, as ridiculous as it is. Anime's also fantastic.

YuYu Hakusho (Shueisha, 1990-1994)

One of the most influential battle manga of all time, that takes a while to come together but when it does, it's something special. While not one of my absolute favourite series, I enjoy it as something to appreciate. Also my favourite togashi work.
September 3, 2024 at 6:47 PM
One Piece (Shueisha, 1998-now)

I can't really summarise all of my feelings in under 20k words about this series, so i'll try to quickly say what I need to.

One piece is my favourite single piece of media of all time, and the attached panels are just a small selection of what makes it special.
