Our second day of freezing temperatures and snow in north- east England. The dog is loving it, doing’zoomies’, rolling in the snow-covered grass and snuffling around all the bushes enjoying the scents and smells.

Our little burn is swollen with #rainwater too, washing all the fallen branches and debris away. #northumberland #streams

It’s hard to miss these Fly #Agaric (Amanita muscaria) #fungi when they pop up in the woods this time of year. The fungal #mycelium of this species forms symbiotic relationships with Pine and Birch trees, providing the trees with soil nutrients in exchange for plant sugars. #Nature is amazing.

Just a capture of reflections of branches in the stream water below, like inky marbling.

#AshDieback is now evident wherever you go in the UK. As more and more trees succumb to this disease their dead and dying branches make stark silhouettes against the autumn sky.

Bistort is a lovely wildflower, which also is useful in the garden, thriving wherever there is ample moisture and often flowering right through to winter.

Came across a rather large #fungus in the woods recently. The dog was fascinated too.

#Swaledale #Yorkshire Enjoyed a lovely dogwalk in Swaledale yesterday, from Reeth to Grinton. Paused for cake and coffee at #TheDalesBikeCentre cafe and cakery, delicious! Lots of wild fruits and joyous reds and yellows of autumn leaves. Snapped this photo of #Spindle flowers & fruits too.

It’s great to still see bumblebees nectaring in the garden. This one is visiting a patch of Bistort, which is still in flower on the edge of my little Orchard.

Before the rain came this afternoon I managed to get out into the garden and grab a photo of this beautiful rambling #rose, Ghislaine de Féligonde, still flowering here in #Northumberland in September. #gardening #DavidAustinRoses

That’s a beautiful colour combination for a #dahlia. I have a vase of assorted #dahlias on my table as I type, they’re wonderful end of sea flowers, I wouldn’t want to be without them.

This is a really lovely Agastache, similar flower shape to Salvias, it’s a stunning autumnal colour and goes beautifully with other late flowers such as Verbena (Vervain) bonariensis and Asters.
