Under Labor’s Aged Care Act the worse your health, the more you’ll pay.

The Greens tried to remove co-payments when the bill came to the Senate last year and we were the only ones to oppose the laws.

Labor’s bleeding pensioners dry while giving tax-dodging corporations a pass.

In this inquiry, The Greens have taken on Labor over the needless delay of home care packages and won 20,000 packages for older Australians. Now we’ll fight to make sure everyone can access the care that they need when they need it, not just the care they can afford to pay for.

Labor’s aged care changes mean the worse your health, the more you’ll pay.

Politicians on big salaries might not have to worry about who will look after them in their old age, but ordinary Australians do.

We’ve also raised the alarm about aged care co-payments. In just over thirty days, harsh co-payments will mean thousands of older people will be forced to pay up to $50 just for help with a shower. Many will have to go without.

Rationing is why we have waitlists - currently around 200,000 are waiting on home care. The Royal Commission said instead that we should have places for everyone that needs care. Labor have ignored this, and would rather let some older people die than cough up to look after them

As chair of the aged care inquiry, I’m pleased the committee has agreed to this important step. Mandating shortages of care should be unthinkable in a country like Australia, let alone deliberate government policy.

Stop ‘rationing’ aged care and end the wait lists - that’s what a majority of Senators in our Aged Care Inquiry have agreed to work towards.

Sadly, Labor disagreed and voted to ensure enforced shortages meaning people die waiting 12mo+ for care.

Aged care waiting lists a ‘calculated denial of services’ that could be fatal, Senate inquiry warns
Greens-chaired inquiry says system should be demand driven despite Labor’s dissenting view that this could cause unintended flow-on issues

The state government is failing to deliver a clear plan, guarantee jobs, or provide certainty for workers and the community. As Greens, we’re ready to step in with a locally-led transition that strengthens Gladstone’s economy, supports families, and tackles the climate crisis.

A science-aligned transition plan for our energy system means securing local jobs, funding workforce retraining, supporting local supply chains, and investing in renewables, storage and green metals - turning coal closure into a thriving, sustainable local economy.

As a Gladstone local, I know the closure of the Power Station in '29 would be a big change, but it’s also a chance to build the clean energy industries our city and state need.

We need a community-led energy transition plan - something the Greens have been calling for for years.

Public schools educate the overwhelming majority of disadvantaged kids in the country. A world-class, fully resourced education should be available to every young person, not just those from privileged families.

BREAKING: New analysis shows that Labor’s deal with the states will lock in permanent underfunding of public schools.

What does it say about Labor that they simply refuse to provide public schools with the bare minimum while they pour $55 million a day into private schools?

Workers and their families deserve more than vague promises. Every dollar spent propping up coal is a dollar stolen from a safe, low-carbon future that secures jobs, strengthens communities, and tackles the climate emergency.

Gladstone could be the powerhouse of the clean economy: renewables, transmission, storage and green metals. These projects need certainty and funding now - not more stalling while a toxic industry in its death throes fuels a climate crisis we can no longer ignore.

The Gladstone Power Station is set to close in 2029.

The writing has been on the wall for years - yet successive Queensland governments have acted like clinging to coal is a plan. It’s not. The only real path forward is rapid investment in the industries that will replace it.

The Greens urge Labor to support our bill to implement the outstanding recommendations of the Royal Commission, to terminate the disastrous welfare suspensions system now, and deliver justice on behalf of the victims of Robodebt.

Labor rightly bashed the Coalition over their handling of welfare debts when in opposition, yet they continue to punch down on welfare recipients in government.

There is no excuse for continuing to chase billions of dollars in ancient and dubious welfare debts.

Meanwhile, Robodebt's victims, like Jenny Miller who you'll hear from in the documentary, have been fighting for justice for years - but they've seen little of it. The perpetrators of Robodebt have received little more than a slap on the wrist.

From today, JobSeeker will be indexed to $56.69 a day. That's 89 cents more - or what Labor calls "cost of living relief" 🫠

Claiming credit for an automatic inflation adjustment that keeps people in poverty tells you everything you need to know about the state of the ALP.

A grotesque display of opulence from the world's elite. Billionaires feast on taxpayer funded banquets while they back a genocide and burn the world.

But sure, migrants are the problem.

62% is a climate disaster.

This is a plan for more climate disasters, more job losses & more homes destroyed.

The Government has failed. Instead of being ambitious and bold, they have cowered to the fossil fuel industry.

It’s a fake target, more about politics than science or the environment.

Coal and gas corporations will love Labor’s utter failure of a climate target.

The PM says Labor knows global heating is real - but his emissions target either proves he's lying, or they just don't give a shit.

This is not 'ambitious', this is a capitulation to the coal and gas lobby that will cost lives.

I'm not disappointed, I'm absolutely furious.

The Climate Risk Assessment is distressing and shocking, especially for those most at risk: people in poverty, older people, people with disabilities and people without safe and secure housing.

Labor has no more excuses. Anything less than net zero by 2035 is a death sentence.
