Happy Chanukah! And on the fire hazard thing….ever heard of a Christingle?

Prompt action from a parent was the only thing that prevented my then 6 year old son accidentally setting a classmate’s hair on fire some years ago.

Of course he bloody does!

I’m glad you can see some light.

Got my signed copy of ‘47 borders’ for my geopolitics nerd 18 YO who will hopefully be studying politics & IR from next September.

You are inspiring others.

So whiny

Unfortunately from our perspective the view is the same.

We should have acted long ago because with hindsight this has been obvious for more than a decade.

Lecturing Americans on the need for consumer restraint is an interesting tactic.

Especially given the Temu dictator chic decorative vibe in The White House.

Trouble is I think a lot of them like who he really is. That’s why he won’t apologise for the racism

Jonathan is pointless. Re Russia stuff - where did Hopper’s corrupt but ultimately good & useful guard go? I’d like to see his return.

We can’t go through this every 4 years hoping American voters only ever vote Democrat.

When Trump goes voters could give us something even worse.

And in any case even the Dems have been cooler on NATO & Europe in recent years.

Hope you bought snacks

Very much not the point of the post but Putin looks terrible. All puffy and odd.

I’d guess at the latter, and in an environment where the editorial teams feel they have to compensate for perceived left-wing bias (perceived by the right wing press and broadcast ecosystem)

Totally agree!

I heard him on R4 this morning airing his views and did wonder why he was always so reluctant to do so when Boris Johnson was in power.

I seem to recall that in those days the line was “it’s not on us to tell you if a politician is lying.”

Not that Reeves is lying.

I’m sure I remember interviews with wealth manager types on LBC and the usual places saying “don’t make irreversible decisions on the back of speculation” or words to that effect. I’m pretty sure Rachel Reeves even said similar.
December 1, 2025 at 11:25 AM
If people made serious & irreversible financial decisions based on speculation and endless “how to protect your wealth from Labour tax raid” bollocks then more fool them, frankly
December 1, 2025 at 11:21 AM
That makes sense

Doesn’t this already happen? When we bought our house (in 2009 admittedly) we had a visit from council soon afterwards & then were revised up 2 CT bands based on an extension built by previous owner.

The sale triggered the revaluation apparently

Or staying in the country at all!
November 28, 2025 at 2:45 PM
Completely this! The whole system is designed to protect the interests of a group which will always take its economic good fortune as proof of its hard work and moral superiority.

Drives me mad
