Here is a look at my backyard from a previous year. Photo is taken from the top of a berm at the rear of my lot, looking down towards the house. Almost all of this was grass when I moved here. Now it’s almost all cultivated. Things have been rearranged a bit since then but the layout is the same. 🌱💙

P.S. But I once worked as a scientist where part of my job was to correctly identify insects down to the species level!

A naturalist-teacher I once studied with did not allow us to ask names of plants (and so I extend that to little creatures). He said, once you learn the name of something, you stop observing it. I never forgot that. So I try to really observe before I run for the ID book. 😄

Is it a moth? I’m not good at butterfly/moth ID so I leave that to others. I just observe and enjoy. And then wonder why my garden work didn’t get done, ha ha!😄💛

Good morning Pam, and thanks. Those little sulphur butterflies rarely sit still long enough for me to get photos. But that little one was so engrossed in feeding, it let me take a whole series of pictures.
