A cool species described only a couple of months ago @evolsyst.pensoft.net is the beautiful Lycodon irwini named after Australian conservationist Steve Irwin.

Another great animal discovered last year is Phyllidia ovata, the so-called eggy sea slug described in @zookeys.pensoft.net. While nudibranchs can come in all kinds of colours, we have to admit this one looks particularly appetizing!

Here you can see a selection of some great animals, including Satyrex ferox, described by @alirezazamani.bsky.social in @zookeys.pensoft.net: a feisty tarantula whose male palps are the longest ever found, possibly to help it against a "highly aggressive female!"
