I found a dead dragonfly in a flowerpot in my backyard a few days ago. It was undamaged, so I assume it died of old age. It looked like maybe a California Darner (Rhionaeschna californica) but I'm not sure as it was pretty faded. One forewing was intact, so I thought I'd try a different kind-- 🐙🌿📷

Looks like Comet C/2024 G3 ATLAS’s days may be numbered… the comet has faded & may have broken up post-perihelion as the nucleus fades from view, leaving a ‘tail-less wonder’ crossing the sky. Here's a great parting view w/ESO’s Paranal Observatory by Yuri Beletsky: www.instagram.com/p/DFF3LKtpIz4/

Merci Madame.
Merci Madame.

I'll add: People often fail to grasp the scale of this place. Los Angeles is unbelievably diverse and enormous - geographically, economically, population-wise. We have city department budgets bigger than the yearly budgets of whole cities, maybe even a few states. And L.A. isn't just the city--
