LMFAO I used to not do this at all until one day I did just to see if I could draw a curve better from the opposite way, and I realized the face of the character I was working on looked sooo wonky and it bugged me LOL 😂

This is more so for characters who are asymmetrical in their design (coat/plumage pattern, hair style, apparel, etc.) but sometimes I pre-plan backgrounds a certain way that if I get carried away with rendering a character, I might screw up the lighting/shading as well.

I’m a psycho who flips their canvas a looot while sketching to ensure anatomy/proportions look right, but if it’s for a piece and I have a specific vision in mind I always write a little note in the corner like “FACE —>” so I know which way the character is supposed to face LOL
