I like to assemble tunes on my computer and foist them on innocent friends
It’s easier for me to sing a part meant for a growly, nasally, hard-drinking character than a part meant for a charming, smooth, pedigreed character. Just learned that today.

I now practice singing for multiple days before I record vocals. My husband says my singing is improving. It’s all part of my genius plan to avoid lots of correction work done in the mix.

The new album is looking good. My husband likes the first two tracks, no qualifiers. He dislikes the subject of the album, a penny that travels between people - he asked me to bring the old Robert back.

I’ve started working on my new album. Creation is a drug that never fails to please

I’ve pleaded with friends, begged them, to no avail. They won’t listen to my latest efforts. My husband, who is a really decent guy, said, “Well, if you like whatever kind of music that is, then I guess it’s good music.” My foisting days are over.

Apple has this new “Invites” app thingy. I used it to invite a few friends to listen to my album. They might even do that!

I had a weird feeling that my last album was the last good batch of songs that I would be able to create. But no, I can still write decent music.

I don’t know if this is appropriate, but I’m interested to see what happens: here is the link to my most recent album

Our neighbor and friend was kind enough to listen to the new album. He said he liked some songs and didn’t like others, which is to be expected. He also said that he is proud of me, which is very kind and unexpected.

I released my latest album on Bandcamp recently. I was going to take some time off to regroup between albums, but that turned out to be pretty boring. So now I’m starting on the new album.

I released my album on Bandcamp, and it’s getting a wider release on streaming the second Friday in November. No matter what happens, I really think I did a good job.

The new album is sounding good. I’m encouraged.

I can still hear music, and I’ve maintained that one can only hear music fully if one has a soul. So I’m fairly sure I still have mine. So what was that internal separation I was feeling a few days ago?

Even if a “bad” part of myself left me, that’s still not okay. I have to stand with myself, love myself, *all* of myself. So I hope that I’m still whole.

I still feel like myself, but when I was empty I didn’t know it until something came back to live in my heart. So I might be empty again, I just don’t know it yet. I hope that’s not the case.

I think I’m still able to put feelings into my vocals, so I’m not so worried that I lost a “good” part of myself… but time will tell.

For some reason I feel like part of my person is fading away/dying. I’ve always thought one needs a soul to make what I consider to be good music, so it’ll be interesting to see how this shakes out.

I worry that I have CBS - Creativity Blindness Syndrome. I’m so enamored with the act of creating that I’m unable to tell if what I create is any good.

My husband commented positively on my vocals. There’s so much electronics on my vocals they could qualify as a special effect. Still, it’s nice to be recognized.

So I recorded the modern day version of the punch in: set a range of measures to loop again and again, punched record, and recorded 3 takes just like that. What people are calling fly ins - cut or copy the track I want to repeat and paste it - I’m calling pasta. Copy-paste, copypasta, pasta.

I’ve had to use an old recording trick to make my falsetto sound decent and fit in with the rest of the tune: the punch-in or fly-in.

So sometimes one has to refresh a piece of music using old production tricks that haven’t really been used in a while. Hello, flanger.

Music question: how many music creation people on here remember or maybe have used Mark of the Unicorn Performer for Macintosh?

So, I’m trying to put together the vocals for a new song which are just out of my range, and I realized I should sing in falsetto. So I realized there’s such a thing as 70s soul falsetto. I don’t expect to sound as good as that, but it’s given me a target.
