idk what that question in particular is doing that makes it work as well as it does, but the moment I read it I had the most intense *need* to reply. Like a mental *itch*.

so congrats on your very own cogitohazard. 😅

'simulate' is an interesting choice of word

me, a mouse: "Okay, sure, that's a trap. But hear me out, okay? That's *cheese*."

or, less reliably, hinges cut on a bias.

doors don't close naturally unless they have been engineered to do so. the doors in my house don't, for instance. that engineering is above and beyond the general category of 'door', i think.

jfc am i going to do this

yes, yes i am

a door has a non-specified state. therefore power should change the door's state. doors accept pulses of power to toggle their state.

the work to open and close a door is identical.

idk about how much weight they can support. i have trouble imagining any mini being heavy enough to bend a very short length of paperclip wire, though. but if there's enough contact space on the part, use two pins?
January 7, 2026 at 10:39 AM
you can buy spools of wire for relatively cheap. i've also just used paperclips cut up with wire cutters. and i've typically used a tiny drill bit in a pin vise.

ohhhh i'm so close to being at 20k views. which means nothing, but i like round numbers

"oh no, Mother. I just love working with the mares. Helping out when they're in season. I love horses, is all. It's no trouble."
January 7, 2026 at 10:12 AM
it could be an opener to more conversation? if you're thinking 'oh they're cute' then go ahead and say so, but the obligatory part ends at 'thank you!' said in an upbeat and cheerful voice.

it works every time. it seems gracious and confident and also you get to not stress about it ever again.
January 7, 2026 at 10:08 AM
ok so i just started doing this recently instead of getting flustered or arguing or whatever and here's what i do

i just say 'thank you!' and maybe 'that's nice of you to say!' and then i'm done. no attempt to turn it back around or return the compliment or anything, just 'thank you' and i'm out.

honestly 'what would you do if you were transported back to the middle ages' has always been an easy answer for me

find a convent that keeps horses

join it

never look back
January 7, 2026 at 10:03 AM
and if you do like it?

you know what you could do?

you could repost this thread!

and maybe someone else who would also really like it will see the post and think 'oh hey that looks interesting'

and Riley and Therese are worth it. they're such disasters.

anyway! thank you for reading!

If you like interesting worldbuilding, trans wish fulfillment, girls kissing girls, cosmic horror, happy endings, silly banter, or naturalistic dialogue?

you'll like The Tower.

if you hate any of those things, you won't like it.

Everyone in-between those extremes? give it a try!
January 7, 2026 at 9:52 AM
far better use of your time, tbh
January 7, 2026 at 9:49 AM
(this is me, by the way. suddenly occurred to me: that wasn't obvious, intentionally.)
January 7, 2026 at 9:45 AM
honestly i did know this but it's good to have a reminder!
January 7, 2026 at 9:41 AM
yeah that's the one i was thinking of.
