You’re going to have to wait until 2030 before they even start to extend the Didsbury line to Stockport TC. In my opinion they should also go to Hazel Grove alongside the freight line (yes there’s space along the alignment apart from the bit past Cheadle Heath Morrisons!)

A Piccadilly-Longsight-Levenshulme-South Reddish (Mcr Rd) Tiviot Dale -Tesco Portwood-Bredbury-Bents Ln-Romiley type of service seems to be a big gap in the bus services. If it goes round the back of Tesco/Water St it pretty much serves Stockport TC too

That’s shit. But I’m not in the least bit surprised. For a period of my life when I frequently went to Stockport (Romiley) it was either by train or car. And the train wasn’t much good either.

Only bus route through the town I grew up in was hourly (oddly half-hourly during the day between the rush hours) but only went as far as the mediocre biggish town in one direction and a slightly bigger big town in other direction where it duplicated the quicker/more reliable/frequent railway line

Pesky passengers getting in the way of a good running railway…

Thanks @kientan74.bsky.social so far I’ve only read more general news articles that don’t go into much detail

The fact I was about to reply with something along the lines of me being super geeky because I know what all the road signs and road markings mean and I always use my indicators etc is probably damning evidence against most drivers proving why we need frequent tests…
November 28, 2025 at 10:18 AM
Unfortunately I’ve evidence you were right to do so.

(Fortunately said evidence is nothing more that a small scrape on my old work vans wheel arch while backing onto a small parking space and hitting a brick wall)

I’m already wearing mine. One benefit of liking winter sports is you have a lot of very handy warm
clothing

Oh I hadn’t read that bit…

My “highlights” were her jibe at Farage and business rates not being as awful as feared

Only someone ignorant would think what you put is correct….
November 23, 2025 at 3:39 PM
I think you’ll find I was replying to all of it and explained why your comment was incorrect. I’m not sure why you think I’m smug but hey, you keep trying to defend your original incorrect comment LOL. Now fuck off before you embarrass yourself further.
November 23, 2025 at 3:35 PM
LOL. You’re the one being ignorant, starting with “cyclists contribute fuck all but smugness”. And now you’re onto the ad hominem attacks which is normally what happens when people realise they can’t dig themselves out of shit they’re in.
November 23, 2025 at 3:20 PM
No. You’re just still trying to defend the codswallop you posted originally.
November 23, 2025 at 3:11 PM
Ah so now it’s this specific sector of the economy? How do you separate this sector? Non drivers use, and pay for roads, through general taxation. Are EVs that are (currently) zero rated and charged from solar panels not contributing to the economy? I don’t think your explanation works I’m afraid…

Driving =/= contributing to the economy.

The money not spent on fuel or VED doesn’t cease to exist or remain unspent but probably put to use in other sectors, spent on other things, and possibly contributing more to UK economy instead of lining the pockets of oil companies and Saudi princes 😉
