The ancient Caiy Stane, measuring 2.75m high and 1.55m wide and standing beside a residential road in the southern suburbs of Edinburgh. Erected some 5,000 years ago, its modern setting would be totally alien to those who put it here. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...

Engineering as a beautiful work of art. This is the Kylesku Bridge on the west coast of Sutherland, seen in summer and in winter. The bridge replaced the Kylesku Ferry - or a 100-mile detour via Lairg - when it opened in 1984. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...

The Kylesku Bridge. Both images show the Kylesku Bridge from a viewpoint above its northern end. It sweeps in from the bottom and then curves around to the right on tall narrow legs obove an inlet from the sea. In the background is a rough shoreline. One of the images shows the bridge on a day with clear blue skies and green vegetation, while the other shows it after snow, with the landscape largely covered and snow lining both sides of the roadway. The Cairns of Memsie in #Aberdeenshire were once a ‘4,000 yr old cemetery’ of three large burial cairns separated by about 100m … now this is the only one left #TombTuesday

Hidden beauty, Belladrum Clava Cairn located in a woodland south of Beauly. A decade ago, a second cairn, 25 metres north of the site, was rediscovered. #TombTuesday

Druidstone, #Aberdeenshire - only two stones survive of this circle, but both are over 2m tall. Some suggest a recumbent stone once lay between the two ... #StandingStoneSunday
