"Some problems are so complex, you have to be highly intelligent and well informed just to be undecided..." -- Laurence J. Peter
It's simple. In the old NFL, DBs played the ball and quarterback as well as the receiver, while laying hands off until the ball got there. Some dumbass decided it was better to chase the receiver and try to knock the ball away at the last minute... that's when you started getting all the flags.

Of course Trump knew. But that's beside the point. It's fairly obvious that Trump was a perpetrator. That's the scandal. All that remains is the smoking gun proof.

I'm astounded at these a$$holes' ability to lie so blatantly.
December 11, 2025 at 7:37 PM
Maybe edification was a poor choice of words. Education is better... to become aware of what's being portrayed by such outlets. Though MSNBC has its blind spots, I have found relatively few instances of them putting out anything that's factually suspect.
December 11, 2025 at 6:38 PM
Alas. Although, on average...?
December 11, 2025 at 6:23 PM
There's also a factor of defending one's position once taken. Admitting you were duped is difficult. Doubling down is attractive if you can get away with it.
December 11, 2025 at 6:22 PM
Fair point. It seems to me that if I were consuming that narrative, I'd quickly find reasons to doubt it and look elsewhere. But they really strum the chords of grievance, so there's that...

This is a really interesting take! Applies to lots of teams, as you point out!

It would be quite the story if ICE got snowed out.

Another excellent production!!!

(The cello accompaniment really makes it, though. Kudos to your sound folk...)

"The truth never does anybody any good." I don't think he actually believes it, but rather just used to say it to piss me off. Which it did and does... 😠2/2
December 11, 2025 at 4:14 PM
Well, I'll agree you lack something, though intelligence isn't exactly it. I guess I'd have to concede to @radiofreetom.bsky.social that how much you care becomes a factor. I mean, if you care about knowing what's true, you wouldn't be watching Fox now, would you? I have a friend who liked to say1/2
December 11, 2025 at 4:12 PM
There's more to it than this. Of all the leaders you lectured at the War College, How many do you think voted for Trump? Among my West Point classmates, there are many who support him and defend him still. Duty, Honor, Country?

They've bought into a narrative. I can't explain it. I can only marvel.
December 11, 2025 at 3:58 PM
Not dumb, exactly. Bought into a narrative by accepting selectively reported information and being too lazy to think beneath it.
December 11, 2025 at 3:53 PM
She went off on an angry tirade, saying what a bad person he was, etc., etc. I was stunned. It was so out of character for her, especially given her scant knowledge of any issues.

I figured it out when her son came to visit. Fox News 24/7.

Narrative has the power to turn people shitty. 2/2
December 11, 2025 at 3:50 PM
Shitty people making shitty choices oversimplifies the situation. People can be made to be shitty...

I had an elderly relative, a sweet old lady, who'd barely been outside her own small town. Never knew or cared anything about politics. Once in the 2000s I mentioned Obama's name during a visit. 1/2

No secret? Do you have none in your sphere (family, friends) who defend him, excuse him, revere him? I would have agreed with you before encountering MANY who have no clue. Fox News delivers a totally different view, where Trump can do no wrong, and Dems are always evil. Many have bought into it.
December 11, 2025 at 3:36 PM
For my own edification, I started watching Fox News. Their audience has no clue about any of Trump's failings. Any thing negative will not be reported, or if it is, it'll be cast as a false accusation made by evil Dems.

I know several Ivy League graduates who fell for the narrative. It's nuts.
December 11, 2025 at 3:31 PM
Not forced. Deceived. Tricked. Manipulated.

They hyped issues that favored Trump. Inflation, which was already cooling after pandemic price gouging, and immigration, far out of proportion. The treated his insurrection as old news unworthy of highlighting, thus normalizing it.
December 11, 2025 at 3:28 PM
I disagree. I couldn't count how many segments I watched while 'reporters' engaged dumbasses on the street to hype the price of eggs, while completely ignoring Trump's attempt to overturn the election as if it never happened. They hyped Biden's cognitive issues and questioned Harris's legitimacy.
December 11, 2025 at 3:23 PM
There was nothing wrong with Harris's campaign. A combination of genuinely stupid voters, a right-wing cult, and MSM bent on creating controversy over the price of eggs was a perfect storm she couldn't overcome.
December 10, 2025 at 4:38 PM
Right!

Zelenskyy is the only one who seems to be taking this seriously.
