Last year, I produced a feature documentary on my local running club, and eight of them turned up to watch the 'premiere' in a nearby pub.
This makes it four times as popular as that thing Amazon threw $40m at, and I don't yet have any allegations of misconduct.

The news is a never-ending torrent of doom and gloom, but occasionally, you get a glimpse of joy

Rumours of me defecting to the Veritas Party are untrue. Mostly untrue. I mean, I was a bit tempted. Alright, the free Parker pen and Luncheon Vouchers was a strong selling point.

Also tried out their underground system. This isn't the station that former wrestler Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake caused an anthrax scare at in 2004, otherwise I'd have brought that up in this post.

Oh.

The day before I was here. Did not attempt to overthrow the government, as at that time, they weren't full of Epstein-File-listed nonce criminals.

January 8, 2026 at 12:14 PM
The Detective Superintendent's observation is on public record and it's grim reading, because the apparent landlord (his sister actually holds the license) appears to have done something very very bad.
It's one thing the punters having scraps, but this... it's not looking good for the pub's future.

Then it's revealed in the local newspaper that yet another fight happened and its license suspended pending a council review. The Royal Oak is the only pub in the North Northants council catchment area in the past two years to face the licensing panel in order to retain its license.
So there's this:

Something kicked off a few weeks ago in the Royal Oak. I heard it could possibly permanently close down, but there weren't any clues, other than this vague ambigious statement from the pub's apparent landlord on Facebook.
