I got burned so much volunteering for non-profits that I refuse now. They can pay £50, £100 and I'll do it, but there will be a contract in place and professional expectations on them not to waste my time.

A book that we - and our friends with kids (dads and mums) have properly LOL'd at: Are We Having Fun Yet? by Lucy Mangan. (Unlike other books in this trope, Mangan wrote one and put all the funny stuff in it, rather than a series of thin books)
