Bengals fans mad at me for rightly pointing out Joe Flacco has been bad don’t realize I’ve been prepared for that level of delusion by interacting with Bears fans for yeats who convinced themselves Matt Trubisky and Justin Fields were also #him.

The Bengals being 7th in single-high % but also 11th in light box % is weird, but also makes more sense when you remember Al Golden comes from college where 3-3-5 is normal.

The Packers offense is 1st in non-blitz EPA and 2nd in blitz-EPA.

The only way to slow down the Packers offense is to have a hellacious four-man rush.

Teams have loaded up to stop the run vs the Packers. They’re seeing light boxes 51% of the time, one of the lowest rates in the NFL.

The Bengals play light boxes almost 72% of the time and are 30th in EPA/rush defending from them per @sumersports.bsky.social

The #Bengals are bad, but the #Packers have not proven trustworthy to take care of big spreads.

@jamesrapien.bsky.social joins me for a Crossover Thursday to break down this matchup.

The Green Bay Packers have to prove trustworthy in taking care of teams like the Cincinnati Bengals

Joe Flacco: Oh, I'm being traded? Surely it's to a team with a better offensive line. I mean, there couldn't possibly be a team out there worse than what we have --

Oh.

Matt LaFleur says the familiarity of a former player is one of the most overrated things by the media.

Says the Bengals will get the same or more from watching the tape than Sean Clifford.
peterbukowski.bsky.social
Sounds like the special teams changes (like Elgin Jenkins playing on FG protection) are here to stay.
peterbukowski.bsky.social
Wow second drop of DVOA from Matt LaFleur in like 3 press conferences.

Ball knower.
peterbukowski.bsky.social
Matt LaFleur says the biggest thing he learned during self-scouting was the Packers just haven’t played a complete game yet.

Says that’s a blessing and a curse because they can be so much better.

Top-to-bottom, I think the Bengals have the worst roster in their division, yes including the Browns.

It’s just that Burrow is awesome and that raises the floor considerably relative to Browns QBs.

Take Burrow away and Cincy is a 3-win team.
peterbukowski.bsky.social
I'm sorry the Bengals did WHAT?

Joe Flacco is headed to Cincy and is apparently going to start. So I consulted @spencito.bsky.social and @jamesrapien.bsky.social on what they think it means for Packers-Bengals this Sunday.

SHOCKER: Cincinnati Bengals trade for Joe Flacco and he's going to START vs. the Green Bay Packers

I thought the last one was pretty bad but this would be worse for sure

On the news of the Flacco trade @FanDuel has the Packers as 14.5 point favorites.

Before the Flacco trade they were … 14.5 point favorites.

This is changing toilets at a Skyline Chili. It’s shitty either way.
peterbukowski.bsky.social
Hard to think of a comparable situation to this for the Packers.

Trading for the presumed starting QB on Tuesday of game week? This is wild. Bengals are desperate.
peterbukowski.bsky.social
Jake Browning had been terrible but Joe Flacco had been the worst preferred starter in the league this season.

It’s theoretically an upgrade for Cincy but it’s a marginal one at best.
peterbukowski.bsky.social
Bump for the opposite reason

lol are you serious Trevor?

The Bengals against 12 personnel have given up the 8th most EPA of any defense vs. any personnel group this season per @sumersports.bsky.social .

9th-most? The Bengals against 11 personnel.

This defense STINKS man.
peterbukowski.bsky.social
Among players who got at least as many targets vs. man coverage as Christian Watson last year, only Justin Jefferson and Keon Coleman averaged more yards per catch.
peterbukowski.bsky.social
It's been forgotten because Christian Watson hasn't become a star WR that he's by far the best Packers WR against man coverage and NOT having him has made the GB offense easier to defend.

And yet, Jordan Love and the passing game are putting up elite numbers.
