I can’t think of a more fitting symbol of tolerance and pluralism than the fact an unarmed Muslim fruit seller risked life and limb to stop the carnage against Jewish celebrants. Alas, I doubt it will resonate with Israeli or Palestinian leadership at this point.😕

It’s not the only shaky tenet that seems to be shooting the US into autocracy with no stopgaps. A corrupt SCOTUS is perhaps the most potent rocket fuel. Don’t think any of this can be reversed overnight. You need another revolution.

I’m guessing the plummet post 2020 was due to lockdowns and distancing. I posited the same happened with flu in 2020 by looking up surveillance data, and public health officials agreed. More evidence that lockdowns really did work!
