Loved this one. It’s a great demonstration of how establishing high stakes that resonate with the reader can really propel a plot forward - in this case in the form of an authoritarian dictator seeking to live forever. Dark setting that was really well pitched to the audience, too

Recommend this one. Wacky and easy to read. Also proof that you can behead a main character in the first few pages and the kids will love you for it 📚🦊 Grimwood by Nadia Shireen

Shame to see Tiny Owl close. I always liked their books - particularly their ‘Hope in a Scary World’ range. Definitely raises questions around how much extra support should be in place for publishing groups who focus on diverse stories

I wonder if we stop reading aloud to children too early. There's something about oral storytelling that even confident readers crave. This summer, it's worth heading to a local library story session to enjoy stories together

Just finished 'Greenwild' by Pari Thomson. Brilliant world-building - creates a magical ecosystem that feels believable, not overwhelming. Thomson nails that tricky balance in children's fantasy: enough detail to immerse young readers without drowning them in exposition. Anyone else read this one?

I overheard a child tell a friend that they "prefer eye reading". Their friend, as it turned out, "prefers ear reading".

We're living through a paradigm shift here. The way children engage with books has changed and continues to change, bringing with it new opportunities to help them love stories.
