Reels/Shorts may have one-off funny or engaging videos you scroll past or are sent that denote coolness. When you engage + dive in to each piece of TT content, the comments help write the story, video replies continue the narrative or hold feet to the flames. When you see the other POV…that is cool.

I agree w/ a lot of the sentiments about friction w/in Reels/Shorts, etc. Ultimately though, at its heart, I believe that what made/makes TikTok cool, is the layers & depth of community that was created and existed, and the thin, yet ever-present thread that connects you via future posts/content.1/2
