I agree with you re safe routes. But not that everyone in Syria, Sudan, etc , has a legitimate asylum claim.

I agree with your points 1 and 3 but have reservations about 2. Surely, asylum is something to be claimed by someone PERSONALLY at risk of harm or death. Just because a country is unsafe, doesn't mean the individual is at risk? Otherwise, the whole population of Syria, etc., would have a claim.
