In the small data set of Bills-Lions regular season games, the 2024 affair is only the 2nd time in 13 games that both teams had 10+ wins coming in to the game. In 1991 the 13-2 Bills lost to the 11-4 Lions 17-14 while resting most of the starters on offense, as the Bills had clinched #1 seed. #bills

You have to go back to 1991 to find a Buffalo Bills team with a record of 10-2 after 12 games. That '91 team actually lost their 12th game of the season, while this '24 team won its 7th game in a row to go 10-2. Every Bills team that was 8-4 or better since 1991 has qualified for the playoffs #bills

Interesting that a potential Detroit Lions - Buffalo Bills Super Bowl matchup would mean that the Bills meet the hometown team of former owner Ralph Wilson, who once as a minority owner of the Lions. Since 1960 Detroit is (not including 2024) 415-549-17 (.431) and Buffalo is 474-501-8 (.486).
