Whatever Melanie Phillips says, the opposite is usually correct.

Not really (because that would not impact him)! But I do want his sales to continue to fall and for him to feel that pain.

Let’s not forget. The “other place” doesn’t like scientists, experts or knowledge!

It prefers “free speech” from flat earthers, anti-vaxxers and climate deniers!

Because in the eyes of brexiteers any agreement with the EU on anything is a stab in the back on Brexit. Sad state of affairs really.
January 24, 2025 at 9:18 AM
You too!
January 23, 2025 at 10:14 PM
You still have an incredible amount of gun crime by any standard.

But you’re right we should probably end it there. You have your view and I have mine. All good in the hood.

Have a very nice day. I’m off to bed as it’s late here.
January 23, 2025 at 10:09 PM
So with your points about cartels and densely populated etc. Is it culturally accepted that you shoot someone if put in danger? Is that a defence against murder in the US?
January 23, 2025 at 10:07 PM
Perfectly fair point. But by that standard you cannot compare any one country with another for anything. Like your Japan comparison earlier. Suicide reasons there are very different to elsewhere.

So this entire discussion is rendered pointless.
January 23, 2025 at 10:01 PM
Generally per capita rates are relevant surely?
January 23, 2025 at 9:59 PM
I can only go on the reported stats. It’s still high too. Higher than most western developed or G20 type countries.
January 23, 2025 at 9:48 PM
Well the thing for me say here in the UK, knife crime is more of an issue. Luckily our new government are trying to do something.

But with a knife it’s much harder to kill dozens or people in a few seconds (say a school). With a gun (especially AR 15) it’s easy. We don’t have that problem.
January 23, 2025 at 9:47 PM
Strange as other press outlets are saying they’ve not ruled it out.

Seems like a no brainier to me. Free trade without the Brexit argument.
January 23, 2025 at 9:30 PM
But like it did for Australia (again related to gun crime).
January 23, 2025 at 9:19 PM
You may be correct. But it’s still a shooting at or near a school. Not great state of affairs really.

I’m not sure we had one of those at all over here in 2024.
January 23, 2025 at 9:19 PM
This is CNN data which I presume is a fairly trusted source. This quotes incidents: events at schools per year (not the total injuries or deaths at each event).
January 23, 2025 at 8:53 PM
I wonder if the word “planned” is key to your number. Although I cannot understand how an “unplanned” school shootings is any better.
January 23, 2025 at 8:46 PM
Again seems to depends on the source. This US publication says 323 school shootings in 2024. Much higher than the other source I quoted before. It’s not 4 though.
January 23, 2025 at 8:42 PM
Oh gosh. Let’s not even go down the Covid route. That’s a whole other can of worms.
January 23, 2025 at 8:31 PM
Per year I mean. That was 2024
January 23, 2025 at 8:30 PM
No you’re right. Japan has a terrible problem with suicide. But I don’t think guns are the only source of death in the world.

But I do think is that 80+ school shooting incidents in one country is a bit of an issue. Don’t you?
January 23, 2025 at 8:29 PM
I guess if depends on the sources and age of the data My stats don’t seem to far off for gun crime. But who knows these days with all the misinformation out there.
January 23, 2025 at 8:27 PM
My stats were homicide from guns. There’s the confusion.
