Wouldn't that be miraculous
November 24, 2025 at 11:41 PM
Looks like not. Sounds like something the state should do!
November 22, 2025 at 8:30 PM
Or perhaps with a tax on land value
November 22, 2025 at 7:37 PM
All that work and not even bothering to put it daylighting
November 19, 2025 at 10:47 PM
Ok am I going insane or did they just tear up a bunch of curb ramps in the last week or two? Went on a walk around LIC today and counted no less than 10 of these all torn up

Fair, I suppose it's really best thought of as considering priorities. The problem is these costs are not bourn (directly) by the city/fire department, while something like buying new fire engines has a much clearer cost that can't be ignored.

Maybe I misunderstand, but I don't think it's crazy for the fire commission to put forward proposals to maximize fire safety. I think they probably should. It's the job of the politicians to then balance that against the costs. This is a failure of the Board of Supervisors who adopted the ordinance

Hey now this seems like a very reasonable interim fix that should only cost $1000 in materials and maybe one hour to install per train.

Huh? What's that? Oh. Oh god

I'm confused. So no power generation would be best? Or do you think the trade offs sometimes make it worth it?
October 2, 2025 at 9:45 PM
If only we could build more power generation
October 2, 2025 at 9:34 PM
Well that's demonstrably untrue they bring tons of tax revenue, that's why they're being courted

Realistically yes. Boggles my mind that it hasn't been done.

Less realistically, and more in line with the 'which stations to shut down' topic, shut down G 21st and add a stop and transfer to the 7 at Vernon-Jackson. Better G access for Hunters Point, and a nicer transfer than Court Square.
