Was originally on call nights but my lovely work colleagues swapped into them.
Just working out my training for the next 3 months now!

Well, I'll [hopefully] see you at Hawes then!

Well that's a shame.... but understandable and worse for the organisers. 😔

Kit all ready for tomorrow's Long Mynd Hike. I've packed plenty of layers and another waterproof top as the weather looks "character building" 😲 🫨 💨💨

I'm happy having given up my place for the summer version in June. 😊 🏃‍♂️

Absolutely right from Streeting.

But then government/Mahmood need to make crystal clear this applies to people who have arrived since 2021 and are working in NHS/care right now -and that government is not going to change the rules and leave them at the mercy of a future Reform/Conservative govt

Very pleased with my training in September: I've done 250km on foot, 200km running and 50km of hiking, with 6500m of climbing in the month.
I'll be taking it easier this week, with the Long Mynd Hike coming on Saturday. Lots of stretching, some Pilates, and some gym work. 🏋️‍♂️ 💪

I sat down with the Prime Minister and asked him if he’s been doing enough to counter the shocking rise of the far right in this country.

It may have taken too long, but it’s good to hear him speaking like this now.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer vows to tackle the far right and child poverty as he speaks to the ECHO ahead of the Labour party conference

Unchallenged & seemingly widespread extreme right wing views are leading to emboldened yobs attacking people with impunity. This includes people who work in the NHS (20% of whom are from other countries). Unfortunately, Liverpool is not immune from this. It requires leaders to speak out & condemn it

At the Reform UK party conference, Dr Aseem Malhotra made the incorrect claim that Covid vaccines are unsafe. We emailed, asking him to correct the record. (1/2)

Farage wanting to kick people out of the country because they migrated here made me angry and made me think about which best of British people and things wouldn't have happened were it not for the brilliance of immigration to the UK.
Sgt Peppers album cover consisting of things that only made it because of immigration in to the UK, either immigrants themselves, the children of or as a result of someone else coming here.

Another beautiful day in the Lakes. We did a 10 mile loop round Great Langdale, summiting on Loft Crag, Pike O Stickle, Harrison Stickle, Pavey Ark, Thunacor Knott, High Raise, Tarn Crag and Blea Rigg. Had a nice swim in Easedale Tarn as well!

Today's hike was a bit longer than planned, but had to take advantage of the great weather. Walked up Rossett Pike, Allen Crag, Great End & Esk Pike, about 12 miles in all. I've been up all but Allen Crag before.

Little walk up Lingmoor this afternoon and then a swim in Blea Tarn. That is Wainwright no. 114..

I have rarely seen such unadulterated bollocks. I loved Twitter, it was so important for my job. Then a mad megalomaniac took it over and made it so no one would see my posts unless I paid him money - and even if I did that I would be submerged in nazi hate. But yeah this is our fault.

One of the biggest mistakes left-of-center pundits and influencers made was decamping to Bluesky. They made themselves irrelevant, shrunk their audiences, and dramatically lessened the positive impact they could have on our public debate at the precise time we needed it most.

Two weeks to go until I run the Long Mynd Hike. 50 miles around Church Stretton, heading over to Stiperstones and a few other lumpy bits. I ran a recce of the middle section, which was useful as there are a lot of route choices! Starts at 1pm, so a good chunk will be done in darkness.

I'm non-binary when it comes to running. You can enjoy both disciplines? Prefer racing up and down the hills, but a bit of speed on the road is also fun.

IDF sniper from Chicago who says he killed Gazan teenager just for trying to retrieve his brother's corpse: “They’re thinking, ‘Oh I don’t think [I’ll get shot] because I’m wearing civilian clothes and I am not carrying a weapon' and all that, but they were wrong. That’s what you have snipers for.”
