The Bikeriders was een aangename verrassing.

“Paul Author, the famous Auster awoke one day to a telephone call from Aus Paulster, his literary agent.
“Did you hear?” Paulster said, “Paul Auster, the famous Author, has died”.”

“Over the phone?”
— “At this point, does it matter?”

“Fine”, the agent sighed.

“This sounds like something out of a novel”, Paulster mused, “Though I’m not sure if it would be one of yours or one of Auster’s”.
— “I wrote a first draft of that exact novel, actually. I can take it out and we can read it, if you want”.

— “That’s impossible”, the writer replied, “I just spoke to him minutes ago”.
“How so?” the befuddled agent asked, “I thought the beginning of this chapter said I awoke you”.
— “From a dream. I spoke to Auster in a dream”.
