Your image with the protest sign has a claim that is too broad.

Yeah, Iran is not the Iraq war. in Poland in 1939 there was a plot to assassinate Hitler. A bomb was planted on his parade route, but it failed to go off. We will never know if it would have prevented tens of millions of deaths… but in the end Germany had to be bombed to achieve peace.

Answer the man’s question— If there’s an active shooter murdering kids, shooting the active shooter is wrong?

Look at these two things side by side and tell me you don't feel any shame at all that American fascism's aesthetics are this fucked

If he goes ahead anyway, I would suspect it will be less that he wants Greenland than a distraction from other things going very badly.

This seems really unlikely. First, it has to survive intervention from his handlers (he can’t seem to stick with an idea long enough otherwise) and then the oligarchs. Prosecuting the Fed board and forcing oil companies to go into Venezuela can be added to the list.

Then we move to journalists, who IMO are increasingly challenged as technical complexity increases.

From this problem to a degree. Some are adapting better than others. US auto makers don’t have this society wide caste system for engineers. The best software comes from newer companies like Tesla and Rivian (but Tesla plays fast and loose with safety). Chinese companies too.

Leadership does not come from a software background and the organization is not designed to develop software. It ends up being treated as an afterthought, even though the reality is that software is increasingly central to cars (Google software defined vehicle). All the legacy automakers suffer

Bug or defect are the correct terms. I spoke with a former BMW employee (now at Apple) about why German auto software is always so bizarre and buggy. He thought it was cultural— mechanical engineers are the top tier and CS/CE are lower tier and looked down upon.

focus on why people voted for a moron twice, it doesn’t make sense. But look at the macro level: incumbents were defeated twice after 3x 2 term presidents. There are true believers but mostly US politicians are very unpopular so the presidency swings between parties if candidates are roughly equal.

After four years – equivalent to all of the US Civil War or almost all of WW1 - it’s no closer to this goal than it was in 2022. There’s no reason to think that Russia, with a weaker economy, will do in 2026 or 2027 what it was unable to do in 2022-2025.
