☕ Getting a coffee on the way to pick up mum and the one local place open on Christmas morning is doing a roaring trade.

🍻 Work is done for 2025. I have logged out of all of the things. I think I’ll have a cold beer and start my wind down mode.

🐕 This is Nala.

Nala knows she is not allowed inside.

Nala did circuits of the table under the house then rolled on her back for belly rubs.

I’m glad the new Virgin Australia security screening area is finally finished at Brisbane domestic airport. Dropped my checked bag then went back up and breezed through. So good to finally not have to pull the electronics out of the bag.

I put a diary entry in to drive round the lights & put up the tree with my niece when I arrive for Christmas. She accepted the lights but the tree was tentative.

She thinks I’m joking when I say if she doesn’t help the ornaments with her name on them go on the back and her brothers on the front.

Finally got around to putting the Christmas decoration out at home.

📬 Regularly refreshing the Australia Post app to check tracking on some parcels. Trying to avoid having to go multiple times to collect things.

🍽️ Lunch plan was cancelled on account of illness (not mine).

New lunch plan was developed and implemented.

It’s been a nice day. Home now to wind down and prepare for a stupidly busy week ahead.

📚 Spent a chunk of time this afternoon sorting out my reading history so I can do a clean import into Hardcover.

Today is Thursday but also work Friday as I’ve been trialling 9 day fortnights and I’m done for this fortnight. It’s proven challenging to not do things on day 10 but I’m getting better at it. I’ll think about it over the christmas break but leaning towards it being a permanent arrangement in 2026.

The British public are clearly wrong and have no idea what they’re talking about when it comes to Christmas movies.

Carefully crafting my email to ensure it doesn’t say “your reports aren’t working because we introduced a time saving process improvement? Cry me a river. Sounds like a you problem not a me problem” but delivers the same message.

In a surprise to nobody a review has come to the conclusion government appointments too often look like nepotism.

Also in a surprise to nobody Labor has ignored the call to add six-month wait times for former politicians and staffer appointments and a pre-election ban on ministerial appointments.
Scathing review finds government appointments often 'look like nepotism'
A report into government appointments to boards has savaged the system, which it found too often allowed governments to award friends or pick candidates for political purposes, eroding trust with the public.

🍺 Currently 33°c. Too hot to be out and about so I think I’ll have a beer, sit in the shade where I get some breeze, and build my Christmas Lego.
