I’m hoping blue sky keeps growing as I think it’s still doing and is a liberal/progressive forum. Idk if that will happen, but I think that’s great!
petesikora.bsky.social
There’s some overlap, but it’s different audiences.

And the value of tweets here versus there is different.

Regardless, at some point seemingly pretty soon, I’ll have more blue sky followers than twitter. And I’ve been active on twitter for a pretty darn long time.

This is great, BUT the year we burned the most coal was 2024 and it's still going up.

It’s good that Lander is getting arrested and helping people fight ICE. But here, he has actual power.

He should fulfill his promises, which were to take major and specific actions on climate.

He has power. He made specific promises. He should deliver.

For those not following, @bradlander.bsky.social
@nyccomptroller.bsky.social committed to major climate action, but now he’s breaking his promises and running out the clock on his term. He’ll have zero major legacy as comptroller unless he fulfills his promise.

Words have power, but deeds matter more. @nyccomptroller @bradlander manages NYC’s huge pension funds. He puts ~$60 BILLION in BlackRock, Wall Street’s dirtiest money manager. In April, Lander announced he’d clean up NYC’s business. As of now, it’s still just talk… 🧵

These lines in the @gothamist.com @elizabethkim.bsky.social @brigidbergin.bsky.social story exposing @bradlander’s maneuvers & outing him as cozying up to NYC’s corporate world are important.

They confirm our suspicions why he’s been so resistant to major climate action as @NYCComptroller

Excerpt from Gothamist story that says lander was communicating with Kathy Wylde pre-primary. Excerpt from Gothamist story that lander “sought to assure Wylde that he would be in a Mamdani administration to address concerns from the business community”

I hope so. I’m not sure what the cues were but whatever they were wasn’t enough for the column of cars turning into Flatbush Ave extension from Tillary that I was part of

Actually it was more like 2 decades ago 😬
petesikora.bsky.social
I’m old enough to remember a decade ago when people said things like “Andrew Cuomo is playing 10 dimensional chess while the rest of us play checkers.”

😂😂😂 love this for him

Cash on hand:

Mamdani: $5,062,663
Cuomo: $1,382,505
Sliwa: $2,272,246

Next public funds payment scheduled 10/9. Another chance on 10/30.

I was coincidentally driving last night back from western ny toward grand army plaza. Like other drivers, I briefly drove into the lane. But then moved out. It was mostly clear after a block of some confusion. It’s great!

I’m wondering - and I’m not doing so as criticism - but what is the state doing to fight ICE and the federal govt? Here in NYS, Hochul isn’t doing much of anything on that front…

This is key to rebuilding trust in our elected officials!
petesikora.bsky.social
There’s still October, November and December for him to deliver. He should! For our part, we’re not going to quietly pretend all is fine and dandy when it’s not. We’re in a low trust society now and politicians like Lander breaking their promises is part of it. WE keep OUR word.

Btw to progressive friends who are excited by Lander’s social stances. I, too, think it’s great he’s getting arrested in the federal building over ICE. Everyone should do that.

But we don’t need the comptroller to be another body at a protest. We DO need him to wield $300B in pension fund power.

Lander’s climate event during NYC climate week would have been the obvious moment for him to deliver on his promise, but he has refused to do so. That blew a private promise of a deadline of summer or at the latest September.
petesikora.bsky.social
Truth is precious and important. It’s not image-making and misleading people to grease a path.

@bradlander.bsky.social must deliver on his promise of major action on climate.

@nyccomptroller.bsky.social wields power. Use it.

Maybe sometime a serious news outlet with large scale coverage nationally and in states/localities will arise. Sadly I don’t think it will happen because it’s too hard to raise the money for a venture that doesn’t cater to the 1%.
