To be the midpoint of triple Nature, to move all things,
You attach the soul and diffuse it through adapted members;
and Soul, cut in two, has globed its motion in two orbs,
goes forth to return to itself, turns about the depth
of mind, and curves the heavens to a like pattern - Boethius

The juxtaposition of book and balls was done in January 2018... Only today have I realised what might have inspired this - Emblem 141 (Eternitas) from Henry Peacham's Minerva Britanna (1612), featuring a very Melusinian-looking form holding two orbs, and she has 17 stars on her!

Managed to get Old Winchester Hill and Beacon Hill in the same shot. Taken from Wheely Down, while trying to view a ploughed out barrow (out of shot). The green mass of Beacon Hill peers out from the trees on the right. Distant OWH is to the left of the central stand of trees #HillfortsWednesday

Lived here for 30 years but only noticed this stone on the flower bed yesterday. Signs of repeated working? A lithic core?

I see echoes of Ithell Colquhoun's painting, 'Tree Anatomy' (1942). As Norah Bowman and Astrida Neimanis observe, its arborescent holiness 'promises a superabundant otherworld', defying the catastrophic extractive logic of climate colonialism for which the hole is merely 'the absence of existence'.

Two flint spheres deposited at a Roman shrine to a water deity, and two flint spheres juxtaposed with a book on André Breton's Arcane 17, his invocation of water nymph, Melusine. Two ‘positional acts’, vastly separated in time, yet mutually implicated thegrammarofmatter.wordpress.com/2025/07/25/m...

Gorgeous, pouting sarsen stone at Bramdean, Hampshire. Part of a group from which a fragment was found at Stonehenge, 51 km away. Mwah! #StandingStoneSunday

A descending dove seen in Hinton Ampner yesterday. Today I found a pigeon had descended our chimney. It must have been in the room a long while. A 50-mile round trip to the animal rescue, but sadly, too far gone to be saved. Returning home, 'The Lark Ascending' plays on the radio. Strange symmetries

Sarsen stone, Bramdean, Hampshire
"Sarsen of undetermined use was brought to Stonehenge from several different areas, two of which include Bramdean, Hampshire (51 km from the monument) and Stoney Wish, East Sussex (123 km from the monument)."

Found this pebble on a field edge. Minutes after this playful comparison with UFO forms in a book on the 1945 Trinity case, I found out (from Tom Graves' 'Needles of Stone') that a 'ley line' I'd plotted through a tumulus in that field c.1977 aligned with the site of a famous Hampshire UFO encounter
