My dad was an “anchor baby.” Grandparents arrived from Germany in 1923, dad was born in 1924, grandparents weren’t naturalized until well after his birth. Thanks to birthright citizenship I’m a citizen of the United States — though today I’m wondering if it might be better to be a German citizen.
