Welp, sorry Philly.

Presidential elections are really the only thing that draws in enough retail gambling to create a liquid market, which is why all these platforms are trying to pivot to sports betting.

Whether from injury, rust, or the reported wind chill of -26°F, McMahon's first start back, the NFC championship game, goes poorly. He throws for just 121 yards on 29 attempts, and Joe Montana's 49ers overwhelm the Bears 28-3 on their way to a Super Bowl win. The 1988 QB carousel spins to a stop.

Facing the Eagles in the divisional round, Tomczak goes 10-20 for 173-1-3, but both teams are hampered by impenetrable fog in a game appropriately known as the Fog Bowl. The Bears win 20-12, but Tomczak is knocked out late in the game, and the wheel comes back around to McMahon.
The Fog Bowl
A heavy fog engulfed Chicago's Soldier Field when the Bears took on the Eagles in the 1988 NFC Divisional playoff game. Check out the surreal photos from that iconic game.

Tomczak is healthy enough to start the season finale. Despite starting three QBs, the 1988 Bears finish 12-4 with the top seed in the NFC. Having the best scoring defense in the league helps a lot, as does an 1,100-yard season from Neal Anderson, who goes to his first of four straight Pro Bowls.

Harbaugh makes his first career start the following week and goes a dismal 11-30 for 108-0-2 in LA, where the Bears lose 23-3. He's a bit steadier in a 13-12 win over Detroit the following week. His first career TD comes on a designed run. The Tribune notes that Ditka went hatless on the sideline.

Happy New Year to those on the surface! Here in the Bears Passing Bathysphere it is still 1988. Tomczak steps in for the injured McMahon and passes passably. The team wins four in a row, but he's felled by a separated shoulder in week 13. Harbaugh closes out a 16-0 win over the Packers.

Could easily convince me that I've drank at least half of those, and if pressed I would start giving tasting notes. Lots of grapefruit on that Imbrium, very sweet finish, yeah.

I want this fact-checked because, even though it's probably true, I would get great satisfaction from seeing somebody do the math on the laser pool factory.

Truly, a thing I didn't know how little I needed until I was forced to learn of its existence.

Leading rusher for the Chargers, with one hand. An unreasonable method of football!
