There's no consensus. But I'd say think about why you're quantifying at all, what and how you want to query or analyze at the other end. And, if you have access, maybe consult with a data librarian for their expertise.

The university and legislative liaisons are doing what they can. Our college may supplement a fraction of costs to keep a version of the project going. We still have to meet to figure it out.

Not sure it matters what the topic concerns anymore. It’s slash and burn. :( I’m sorry about yours.
