We are mostly talking about two ideas:
1) Creating a proposal for a chapter communications tool
2) Pitching Socialism training for members

We quickly reviewed the proposed Spokesperson Policy, a resolution to help us understand how Co-chairs, Communications Coordinator, and others should speak for the chapter, with media, etc. This passed without amendment.

These were those ideas:
1. The restructuring of state and federal Houses of Representatives into proportionally elected chambers comprised of officials from multi-member electoral districts; i.e., the repeal and/or amendment of the Uniform Congressional District Act (UCDA) and passage of the Fair Representation Act (FRA). 2. The implementation of single-transferable voting (STV), also known as proportional ranked-choice voting (PRCV), for all multi-winner municipal, state, and federal elections. 3. The Abolition of private campaign financing in favor of public funding for all electoral campaigns; i.e., the overturning of Buckley v. Valeo and Citizens United v. FEC. 4. The election of single-winner offices, including but not limited to the Presidency, through direct popular ranked choice voting; i.e., the marginalization of the Electoral College via the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC). 5. Citizen ballot initiatives (CBIs) in all fifty states.

We decided to divide the question. We adopted the first half of this resolution, which asks PGH DSA to endorse general Proportional Electoral Reform.

Now, I'm just a simple not-southern not-lawyer, but I think that means... we can share these ideas in a favorable light in comms.

Up next is a resolution called "For a Democratic Electoral System" which calls on our chapter to work toward Proportional Electoral Reform in a longterm effort. This includes democratic tools ranked choice voting, more than two political parties, removal electoral college, etc.

As we heard from Rashida Tlaib at National DSA Convention, "Weapons are weapons." Sending any can not bring a ceasefire.

Anyway, this passed with one caveat: We should fix the typo that addresses this to "Dear Sen. Senators" 😅 Don't worry, we'll name names.
