Indeed at my school you did all the prep yourself. My head of 6th form dug out some past papers and suggested I "had a go"!

I was told to attend lectures selectively. Some were wonderful - Treitel's lectures had people sitting on the floor. Some less so ...

Interesting piece - I had never heard of the Tanner Scheme but does recall the debate students had in that era as to whether they were supposed to attend lectures!

Just been working with a survey which indicates how few UK universities teaching some form of comparative law include sessions on methodology. Tendency to teach "Comparative and international perspectives on ..." without thinking what that actually entails. Hopefully more positive in Finland.

Whole-heartedly agree. So many PhDs/articles start with the simple sentence, "I will be using functionalism ..." without considering methodology more deeply.
