Interesting piece - I had never heard of the Tanner Scheme but does recall the debate students had in that era as to whether they were supposed to attend lectures!

I guess we have different levels of *interesting* amidst the disciplines of law 😀

I think the reaction of most comparative lawyers says a lot. And no doubt every field has *interesting* characters ...

I think we lost that argument with Brexit!

Too true. He is a great loss to comparative law/globalisation scholarship.

Just been working with a survey which indicates how few UK universities teaching some form of comparative law include sessions on methodology. Tendency to teach "Comparative and international perspectives on ..." without thinking what that actually entails. Hopefully more positive in Finland.

Whole-heartedly agree. So many PhDs/articles start with the simple sentence, "I will be using functionalism ..." without considering methodology more deeply.

So hoping this happens. Sounds as if there are a lot of discussions, however, before we get there.

Be careful what you wish for when they arrive in your reviewer's box!
