St. Pete, Florida. Broken by watching and yapping about soccer. Too much time on my hands. Design Nerd. Unhealthy Vices: Tampa Bay Rowdies, Tampa Bay Sun, AS Roma, Liverpool FC. (And also Boston Celtics, NBA/WNBA at large.)

Back in 2018, my new drug was putting that sexy saxophone crescendo from "Baker Street" over highlights. Time to bring my favorites here. 🎷 Sound ON. 🔊

Exhibit A: Wayne Rooney to Acosta (2018)

How are you feeling about all of it? Same as it was?
phat7deuce.bsky.social
Has it broken ground at all?

Wonder if these guys will have to fulfill the office building component (I’d assume so as that’s what effectively got them $1 rent.)

Man, back in the day A10 hoops was fun as hell

The Women’s Champions League coverage on Paramount+ is nice. Pregame, half-time, post-game. All in the big studio. Nicely done.

I just wouldn’t bother with this guy. I blocked him. He’s just a reply guy troll.
phat7deuce.bsky.social
That’s Seattle. And it will impact Boston as well. There’s 14 other teams. Obviously they’re solving the training facility thing if they’re going to continue playing during the knockouts. And if they offered up their own training facilities are part of the bid, well, they own that.
phat7deuce.bsky.social
That isn’t even the case you made. You made a case about traffic. I’m tired of you. You’re consistently NWSL’s greatest defender as a “reply guy” from an anonymous account. Half the time talking entirely out of your ass.
phat7deuce.bsky.social
And guess what? The WC doesn’t play in those venues every day! They don’t even play there every other day!
phat7deuce.bsky.social
You named One (1) team where that is an issue.

It will be a 16 team league next year. 2 are in WC venues. 6 of those 16 are in WC cities. I can assure you that other events will be concurrently happening in those cities. MLB isn’t pausing for the WC.
phat7deuce.bsky.social
Like, I totally understand MLS taking it off. Or NWSL taking off a WWC (domestic or otherwise due to the quantity of players).
But I can’t wrap my head around this.

But yeah, in a coordinated effort this could be a major boon. So many great facilities and great players. It should be a showpiece.
phat7deuce.bsky.social
I kind of doubt it if they're playing through the knockouts. But NWSL execs continually do dumb things, so this tracks for them.
phat7deuce.bsky.social
I have a vague memory of that. I understand why MLS would do it. And I understand NWSL doing it during a WWC. But beyond that? Seems dumb. But it's kind of a stupidly managed league anyway.
phat7deuce.bsky.social
(In the OP I meant to type "the world will be here and not ONLY attending WC games")
phat7deuce.bsky.social
Let me know when MLS takes off for the Women's World Cup...
phat7deuce.bsky.social
Maybe it's me, but this seems...stupid. The world will be here and not attending WC games and we don't want to show off? I can understand not playing an NWSL game on the night of a WC game in the same city, but beyond that?

#NWSL commissioner Jessica Berman gives @financialtimes.com a long interview, with many business and tech industry buzzwords, but also some news:

The league will stop during next year's men's World Cup group stage, but will resume during the knockout rounds.

One of the many minority investors in the new Rays/Rowdies ownership group is the Friedkin Family, who also own stakes in global giant AS Roma as well as Everton.

How involved they will be is yet to be determined, we have reached out for comment. #COYR

I’m hopeful too. It’s weird timing, since the Rays have to figure out their stadium, and that’s definitely going to be the priority. We’ll see how it all goes down.

I might have missed the Landon Donovan new hair discourse here on Bluesky, but I just saw it on Reddit. No judgement whatsoever, hope he does whatever makes him happy, but he looks like a totally different person.
Landon bald. Landon not bald.

I just realized that the Rowdies now have the wealthiest mens soccer team ownership in the U.S. outside of MLS and might be amongst the wealthiest D2 teams in the world. Let’s see if anything comes of that.

Aren’t those exactly the trademarks you are trying to register and exactly what you are trying to do with them? Where is that not factual?
