In 1988, the FAA required new aircraft seats to withstand 16x the force of gravity — 16g. It is likely that because of that decision, in part, that everyone survived today's Delta crash. As @PeterGoelz said tonight it was an instance "where a government regulation saved lives."

We’re starting to get pics and video of the Delta flight attendants calmly, efficiently and professionally evacuating the upside-down plane in Toronto.
They are highly trained heroes.
We owe them our thanks - and in some cases our lives.
