I’ve of a habit of insisting that it’s the message, not the messenger, that matters, and that we shouldn’t play identity politics in determining who’s allowed to comment on which topic. But Peter’s take here is something only a Jewish person could write because it’s a powerful internal critique 🙏🏾

We never had a genuine democracy to start with—the donor class and organized groups representing business interests control our elected officials—but what semblance we had of it is being dismantled, not merely “contract[ing]”

Agreed but this also needs to be squared with the fact that, in this corrupt system, the Dems need to win elections to be able to thwart Trump, and to win they need money. Small donors are right to be concerned about how that money is spent too. Harris flushed $2 billion down the toilet after all

I was expecting a more substantive critique of your argument rather than a rejection of your background assumption of the ability of two peoples to live in peace. Linfield is, in my view, too pessimistic and doesn’t consider that two states could eventually lead to one binational state down the road

As should be clear by now, “destroy[ing]” ISIS was at best a short-term achievement which complicated the power vacuum in Syria, bringing us to the hellscape we are currently witnessing
