I always thought the slips in Sev's narration got blown out of proportion too. IMO he's an unreliable narrator because he has an alien perspective on the world and he's slow on the uptake (both straightforwardly apparent in the text), not because he mixed up Roche and Drotte's names one time.

biggest pet peeve is people seeing an obvious oversight in a book and being like "it must have been intentional, this author is too clever to have made such a simple mistake" and then analyzing it like it's the da vinci code

Reading the comments is infuriating. I don't understand how these people can feel entitled to grill the maintainer that hard when as far I can tell no harm has been done whatsoever.

self-actualization is not something that can be distilled down to a step-by-step guide as it turns out

never been to sweetgreen but there is one next to my apartment that releases a brussels sprout miasma in a two block radius that smells awful forever

specifically for GoT suddenly ignoring the ruthless pragmatism and logistics preventing all the well-meaning characters from getting anything nice done in the world feels like silently retconning out the main villain. but that doesn't mean realism or rules makes your story better

I mean "it has a realistic economy" is just a surface level thing. early GoT was interesting because it built a set of rules that characters had to follow that was in tension with the mythmaking of the noble houses and precluded a heroic narrative. ignoring the rules later felt contrived

what I wouldn't give for just one sleep and you're out here with two??

I think the game was ahead of its time and eventually we'll recognize that most media featuring nuanced villains with complex motivations had less to say than media where a guy turns into a giant monster who wants to kill everyone

I kinda just wish the extremely public internet was not the arena for hashing out this sort of thing within the community. Who else is showing their own ass like this besides like, fandoms

it's not like I want tutorials, I just want discoverability, which wiki culture helped make an afterthought. the peak for me was when morrowind npcs would give you gameplay advice without breaking character if you asked
